Glenorchy 11.12.78 at KGV Oval LAST TIME THEY MET Round 6 Burnie 11.14.80 def. Glenorchy 11.12.78 at KGV Oval PREVIOUS ROUND Glenorchy 17.15.117 def. Lauderdale 9.10.64 Burnie 17.5.107 def. Launceston 7.8.50 SEASON FORM Glenorchy: WLWWWLWLWWWWWWWWL*W Burnie: WWWWWWWWWWWLWWLL*LW * BYE game was played as the Season opener FORM OVER THE LAST MONTH Glenorchy: WWL*W Burnie: WLL*LW FINAL LADDER POSITION 2009 Glenorchy 1st Burnie 2nd SUMMARY Two heavyweights of the TSL battle in the 2nd Semi Final at Bellerive Oval, a game that was going to be played at the oval it would appear regardless of who finished on top of the table. The two sides have not played each other since the epic encounter at KGV Oval back in Round 6 in the wet. Burnie would take away the 4 points that day, but Glenorchy would have felt some costly errors, and a couple of dogey calls cost them. We fast forward now and we're in the finals, a game where the loser will play a Preliminary Final next week against the winner of Devonport/Clarence. Glenorchy and Burnie have both have byes coming into the finals Glenorchy in Round 17, Burnie in Round 16 both sides lost their season opener, factoring that out Glenorchy has not lost a game since the upset loss to Hobaart back in Round 8, they have won 9 games on the trot, Burnie have had a mixed month removing the bye 2 wins, 2 loses, one lose a surprise one at Home to North Hobart. Glenorchy has had a good run away from KGV Oval, they have only played the once at Bellerive, Burnie have yet to visit the oval since the TSL has been reinstated. The Magpies welcome back captain Shane Piuselli, but lose young gun Ryan Harwood who has been banned for one game by the club for breaking the teams drinking rules. A blow that could help swing the game in the favour of the Dockers, wet weather around the south has seen one gme move to Bellerive. The wet could prove a factor for one side, both sides played on a wet KGV Oval, that day the Dockers snuck home with an inaccurate scoreline by 2 points. The final moments of the game saw Glenorchy waste some chances, and even saw poor decision making and a 50 metre penalty that gifted the Dockers a goal. The Magpies managed to steal the top spot from the Dockers thanks to some hiccups from the Dockers, the Magpies are going for their third straight flag, it's not coming easy against a Dokers line up that has Justin Plapp, and Luke Shackleton, the Magpies do have former William Leitch medalist Jese Crouch, former premiership players Chris Glenn, and Jamie Kaye in the side, Jonathon Bowring has added a new spark in the Magpies forward line to help young David Hunt. Both sides have class, it's going to be interesting to see how this battle is going to go the last time it went right now to the wire at the Magpies home ground, how will it go at a venue that one side has played, and the other hasn't? PLAYER TO WATCH Jonathon Bowring (Glenorchy) Bowring is having his best season yet for the Magpies, he has been adding goals, and getting a lot of the ball. He has had such a good season he has featured in the top 40 for the new Tassie Medal that will be awarded Grand final Day. The Premiership played for the Magpies will be asked to play two roles for the Magpies, a role as a forward, and a role as a midfielder, the Magpies have found great success with rotating Bowring through different positions throughout his career and this season as well. Justin Plapp (Burnie) The veteran forward is the man that the Magpies are going to need to stop first and foremost to get the win he has been in dangerous form, even bck when he was carrying a discolated knee cap he got himself a lot of shots on goal for minimal return. QUESTION MARKS Glenorchy have lost young gun Ryan Harwood to club suspension, and will bring back Shane Piuselli for his first game in close to 9 weeks after breaking his collar bone, will this be a major affect for the Magpies? Glenorchy also played Clarence in wettish conditions at Bellerive early in the season, the Roos came close to blowing the Magpies away in the last, will history repeat? Burnie have the wood of the Magpies, winning their first and only clash of 2009, but they have not had a chance to play on Bellerive Oval this season, only those that have played for the state team have, will this be a major factor for the Dockers? With the rain about will that work for the Dockers, or would some of their sore legs be hindered by the rain? WHO WILL WIN AND WHY Glenorchy are my tip for this game, at an unbiased view of the sides, Glenorchy have played Bellerive before, and have even won there prior to this season. The game that that they played earlier in the season came at a cost as Josh Arnold damaged his shoulder, but the Magpies have rallied since then, and they are playing football that has been hard to back against them. They have done enough to win, done enough to win convincingly as well, and even took some names with them, Clarence twice, North Hobart twice, Devonport in miserably windy conditions at Devonport, and even murdered North Launceston. Burnie's lack of preperation for the game at Bellerive might be a factor, only former Devils, and those who played in the State of Origin side have played Bellerive, so this could also work into the Magpies favour. The Magpies were not playing good football early in the season, which saw them almost blown away by Clarence and Launceston only to fight back to almost win the Launceston clash, before the Blues managed to save it, and the Clarence game was just a nightmare. The two point loss against the Dockers playing badly, give the Magpies some hope in actuallu knocking over the Dockers at Bellerive. PREDICTION Glenorchy by 10 points RESERVES vs ![]() Sunday 6th September 2.20pm at Aurora Stadium COLTS Vs ![]() Sunday 6th September 10am at Aurora Stadium

The Magpies are out on the Ground now, and this is going to be a big game for them, as they lose to the dockers in their only meeting this season, a big loss for the Magpies in Harwood, but they get Piuselli back into the side.

Well the ABC Commentators are going for Burnie here today, not giving the Maggies a chance even though our road into the finals has been better then theres, we have played regularly at Bellerive and we have won 9 straight games...Oh well, never matter much what the commentators said I guess.
