That would be a very Dockers-esque approach to recruitment! ;-)

Use this years draft to inject more youth into the club before the draft concessions for the Gold Coast team start to bite next year.

I was thinking we should get him, but I dunno... I think I'd rather get some more youth in.

Too old. We want youth for sure.

He wont be considered, not even worth discussing.

The way Johnstone has been treated by the supporters this year I would say no.

And Yze would be much worse than Johnstone.

Which Tarrant are you referring to? Robbie or Chris? Chris Tarrant is an absolute chump, I've been to all the Dockers matches (a cursse of living in WA) this year and watched him play, he is NO good. And where would he fit into our forward line with B1 and B2?

Neither player will be considered.

FORMER Melbourne star Adem Yze is hoping his prolific career at the top level is not done yet, with the 31-year-old a surprise nominee for next week’s NAB AFL pre-season draft.

Late on Tuesday afternoon, the AFL released a list of recently delisted players who had nominated for the December 16 draft before the 2pm deadline.

While Josh Carr (Fremantle), Chris Johnson (Melbourne) and David Gourdis (Richmond) have thrown their names into the ring as expected, Yze’s decision to put his name forward came more from left-field.

The mercurial left-footer played 271 games in 14 seasons at the Demons, and picked up a host of individual accolades throughout his career in the red and blue.

However after managing just 14 matches in the past two seasons, he was told late in 2008 he would not be offered a new contract for next year.

Yze, who booted 234 goals in his career playing through the midfield and in attack, would appear to an unlikely choice in next Tuesday’s draft.

Two clubs – Carlton and Port Adelaide – have already committed to players, with the Blues publicly declaring they will snap up Johnson if available and the Power keen to take back former premiership player Carr.

Melbourne is one of four other clubs with live draft picks, ruling out another chance for the silky-skilled veteran to prolong his career.

That would leave Yze as an option for just three clubs -- Essendon, the Brisbane Lions and Richmond.

The Bombers may well be Yze’s best opportunity to continue playing AFL football.

Earlier this week Essendon coach Matthew Knights spoke of his club’s need to bolster its playing ranks with experienced senior players.

“It depends on what is around because we have added a lot of younger people to our list in the last two years and had a lot of experience go out,” Knights said on Monday.

“I am open-minded about maybe looking at fairly mature player for the pre-season draft pick if the right guy is there.”

why are people talking about Tarrant?...he is contracted.

Uze has obviouslt spoke to knights at the bombers who are considering a experienced player...he is no good to the lions.

We just need to give some young guns ago up forward...there is no point having all these young players if we can't give them games

no thanks to Yze hes way too old to even be considered. He's 31 right.

Chris Tarrant used to be good... But he's from Bendigo, so I wont complain about his current ability. lol

Interesting fact actually... I don't think any Bendigo players got picked up in the draft this year! First year in ages that thats happened... very disappointing. Never know in the rookie draft though. Jake Hall is meant to be okay. Plays for the Bendigo Pioneers.

I can't see him at the club next year. Too old I think.

Yeah 31 years of age this guy is. Unfortunately, I don't reckon anyone will want him.Vossy is looking or youth in this one. If we contract Yze, he'll only have 2 years left in him at a max. Davo I reckon, could give him 3.

Put it that way, it's kinda sad to see former Champs like Cuzz and Yze not to be able to reignite their careers.

It is, but thats the way footy is now. Its so competitive and such a serious business that teams are not willing to take the risks. The Cousins issue is bad because getting back to playing footy is supposed to be part of his rehab, and who knows how he'll handle not being picked up.

I guess some clubs feel that he may do that regardless of whether he is picked up or not, thats why none of the 16 clubs will take the risk and draft him. Crazy to me that all 16 would say 'no' though.

Going back to the drugs is a deathtrap for him and I wish this bloke from the bottom of by heart that he doesn't. I mean, footy is the game he loves and when you can't play it, you go crazy.

Dude look at the Cousins thread I new the Saints were not gonna take him from the start.I have not told anyone this but it is safe to let the cat out of the bag now I live next door to the guy who is the Saints queensland members chairman and he told me about a month or so ago that it will never happen and said he is more likely to go to us,His info is pretty much always spot on even told me Judd would leave west coast as soon as they won a flag and he was out of contract over three years ago.

will hooper is desparate too come bak and train and vossy is working hoopers ass off in hoopers single training it looks like hooper is keen to come bak and play but if hye does it again all i can say to him is goodbye!!!!

Yeah Hoops has said that he is in fact committed (Now there's a change!) and that he really wants to play footy again. He knows that he has to change which is good. Vossy has put him on Boot Camp to get him back fit and firing when he returns to Training.

If Hooper doesn't return super fit and ready to go I really hope the lions delist him to send a clear message to the rest of the play squad that it is 100% or nothing

Make an example you reckon? I agree with that. You don't win by putting in less than 100%.

I reckon he will end up delisted, if he isn't the team will think they can get away with shit like that.
