The injury to Collier & the game of Sheldon say Proud stays in the seniors.
Good Points Kenny but was Sheldon that bad? I no he didn't do alot but a goal and a couple of assists says he may not be Dropped it will be a long week of speculation me thinks.

Notting can take a week at the tribunal with an early plea... that says to me that BOTH Sheldon and Proud will stay in!

Notice when proud and Brown had that clash that Proud was the one left standing?

Yes, I was a bit surprised by that one. And Notts for a week.

BRISBANE Lions star player Albert Proud has been sentenced to an intensive correctional order, probation, 100 hours community service and slapped with a $8000 compensation order after he pleaded guilty to the assault of two women in a Gold Coast night club.
An ITO means “prison is to be served in the community by way of corrective order". It includes strict reporting conditions including regular drug testing. Outside court today Proud apologised to his young female victims, who had been holidaying on the Gold Coast in February this year when the attack happened at the Cocktails and Dreams nightclub in Surfers Paradise.
He said there was “no excuse” for his behaviour, that he said caused embarrassment to himself, his family, friends and the Brisbane Lions club.
In court Proud pleaded guilty to criminal negligence that saw him glass one of his victims above her left eye.
The court was told the assault was not a “classical glassing” because Proud did not intend to hit his victim’s face with the glass, instead he hit her hand which in turn saw a glass fly at her head.
Kara Ashley Wickenden, who suffered the glass injury, was awarded $7000 to help pay for laser surgery to treat her remaining scar.
Her friend, Amber Kate Adams, who Proud grabbed causing bruises around her chest and arms, was awarded $1000 in compensation.

Roe had a really strong game for sunnycoast but Teerock played onball for the game and his clearance work was clean and crisp almost Shuanie Burgoyne Like so I was told

If he wasn't a Lions player, would you think he would get a harder sentence?

The Brisbane Lions AFC notes that senior player Albert Proud was sentenced by the court on Tuesday after pleading guilty to charges of assault arising from a nightclub incident at the Gold Coast earlier this year.

We also note that Albert has apologised unreservedly to the two female victims involved and deeply regrets the embarrassment caused to the Brisbane Lions Football Club and its members and supporters by his alcohol-related actions.

The Lions took appropriate disciplinary steps with AFL approval back in February by imposing a heavy fine, a club suspension and a Club directive to complete a series of alcohol and anger management related counselling courses.

The player has now received his court imposed sanctions including a three-month Intensive Correctional Order with strict reporting conditions, probation, 100 hours of community service, an $8,000 compensation order paid to the victims and further court approved counselling for his alcohol and anger management issues.

The Lions are pleased to see this regrettable case is finally resolved with the full co-operation of the Club and the player involved, and believes it is a timely reminder to all young Australians about the serious responsibilities surrounding alcohol consumption.

The Club now wishes the two victims involved a speedy and complete recovery.

This matter is now closed and the Club will issue no further statement on the matter.

Regardless of his off-field issues, he should be dropped this week based on his on-field. 43% efficiency at the weekend... nowhere near good enough while guys like Roe and TeeRock perform consistently while being on the verge of selection.

I wouldn't mind if he was dropped

BRISBANE Lions player Albert Proud's controversial AFL season has ended.
The Lions (http://www.news.com.au/couriermail/sport/afl/club/0,27044,5016181,00.html) said today that Proud had been ruled out for the season, citing a foot injury.

Proud pleaded guilty to assaulting two women (http://www.news.com.au/couriermail/story/0,20797,25850547-10389,00.html), one in a glassing incident, at a Gold Coast nightclub in February.

The 20-year-old midfielder was sentenced to an intensive correctional order, probation, 100 hours community service and hit with a $8000 compensation order on July 28 (http://www.news.com.au/couriermail/story/0,23739,25847234-952,00.html).

Proud played 13 AFL games after the Lions had lifted a suspension imposed and then lifted on him during the pre-season.

Proud is highly rated by Lions coach Michael Voss for his attack on the football and his absence will further weaken a Brisbane midfield operating without vice-captain Jed Adcock.

Brisbane's small forward Rhan Hooper (hamstring) is listed as having a fitness test later this week and he may be considered for the important Gabba game against Western Bulldogs.

It stinks of a cover up Rekon he was told once the case is settled and if he was found Guilty he would face a suspension from the club for his actions........................... thats what I smell anyway

I'm smelling the same thing, Jedda.

Does that mean Harding just cemented his spot? ;)

Haha, it'd better mean that TeeJay has!

it is interesting that the port supporters on that online chat with leah matthews in the AFL website are desperate to get Proud to the power as they rate him very highly

I personally reckon we aren't the right club to get his best talents out their. Port's gameplan suits him better than ours.

b_lions16

Power's game plan is this stop-start shit that no one wants to play...lol.
Don't rate Proud any more, he hasn't been playing onball which he is a gun at and gets stuck playing in defense and sucks major balls at that.

You don't rate him anymore because he is a gun in the midfield but isn't being played there so you don't rate him.:rolleyes:

I don't rate him as a quality player anymore as he has been stuck playing a different role. And mostly, people judge you by the role you play in the team and how well you do it. ;)
If he played onball, he'll be a gun, no doubt. :D

Jedstheman
17-09-2009, 05:41 PM
He will stay bank it Voss rates this guy so do the playing group Albie will get there but needs to be one of the mids coming off the bench he is like a little bull when he is at the stoppages head down get out of his way quick hands and not a bad Mark fast just needs to polish his Kicking and he will be a 150-200 gamer for us

lions_girl_4life
17-09-2009, 09:21 PM
I'll be happy for him to stay with us, but I wish he would find some form

miloman
18-09-2009, 03:09 PM
yeh he has shown glimpses of it over the years, v the roos at the gabba this year, played really well but bombed 2 certain goals, i think thats what u meeen by polish, will he able to fit into the mids with players like polkas, rich redden all in front of him

Jedstheman
18-09-2009, 06:17 PM
Polka is still a forward and Redden only came into the side when Prouds foot injury Happened I would not put them ahead of Proud but at the same time I think the two of them are very Handy Players and think the three of them are about level Proud is the best mid at this stage.
Redden has a Knack for gettin a goal most games which I really like Proud had alot of mental demons to deal with this year and now thats all behind him I expect him to repay the Faith Voss has given him huge PreSeason and Kickingwork please and we will see the best of this fella.

Albert Proud: Let the club down with his pre-season arrest for assault and was unable to repay the faith on the field. If he is given another contract he will be expected to take a giant step up next season. He can attack the man hard but must learn to be cleaner when taking possession. Rating: 4

Play him onball...he's a gun there.
Or he could be heading down the Marcus Allen road where he was a gun for Sunnycoast but an absolute blooper for the AFL. :D

Chuck him onball, he stars for the reserves, and has the speed to be a Aker type player, if he can work hard at it...I mean REAL hard at it. :D
Very tough little bloke, almost like Byron Pickett, and he will thrive in a position that he knows and loves.

Forward no chance the guy is an onballer Worbs read 16's post mate and remember when Browny ran into him and was put on his arse late in the year he has onball written all over him and with Luke Ball and him it will add a hardened in and under element that is lacking thus realeasing Blacky to dominate;)

Well his best game of the year was onball Worbs had the nut 20 odd times tackled well and had 2 goal assists not that bad mate....................................... next year dude wait and see I promise this guy will become a valued player at our club

He played in defence all year, didn't he? That's where I thought he was. He sucksarse there too, BTW. ;)

There was mention on here by someone that alberto had the same injury as Trent Croad and his career may be over well he trained like a madman yesterday and seems to be showing no ill effects from the injury and as a mater of fact looked to be our best guy threw the middle in the match played at training no Blacky and Power there but Stumps Brennan Risky T.J all where and he looked in better form than them.

b_lions16
28-01-2010, 06:25 PM
Wow, the only thing I'm worried about is that he doesn't end up like Marcus Allen. Star in the QAFL but in the big league, he bombed out horribly. Albie, is a bit of the same story, he was an absolute gun for SunnyCoast but when he was brought in late 2008, he didn't convert that potential into the AFL. Maybe he was being played outta position? He is an onballer but was played mostly in defence.
